Sunday 12th June 2011

It's student time of year again!  Student removals take up a lot of our time at this time of year.  We use two different types of van for these removals; for smaller student removals we use LWB Transit vans and for larger or shared student removals we use Luton vans.

This enables us to keep the cost of the removal to a minimum as these tend to be long distance removals with students travelling back home from Universities all over the country.

We even provide passenger space for up to two passengers free of charge!Zebra Removals - House Removals Warrington

We like to think that a lot of students choose Zebra Removals because we are good at what we do, we turn up on time, we load the van with care and attention and we get to the destination in a timely manner with everything delivered safetly and securely.

We know how precious peoples time is so to ensure your removal doesn't take up too much of it we operate seven days a week with both local and national removals.

Our new websites have been launched this week, one aimed at the man and van market in Birmingham -

Birmingham Man and Van ( that title took many hours to come up with )

and one promoting our new ebay collection and delivery service -

Both sites produced by Zebra Online Media Zebra Online Media

If you've booked a removal with us this month, why not take advantage of our fantastic offers on packaging supplies? with up to 40% high street prices and free mainland UK delivery on orders over £100.  Click here for our shop page.

Once again, happy Easter and we hope you have a fun-filled, sunny weekend.

Thursday 31st March 2011

Zebra Removals is based in Warrington, Cheshire in close proximity to both Manchester and Liverpool making us the ideal choice for anyone looking for a small house removal that's big on quality but low on price.

Liverpool Man and Van

We carry out many house removals in Liverpool and Manchester and have recently increased our coverage of Liverpool with the addition of new staff members, John and Jack.

We have always been very busy in and around Liverpool, carrying out both local removals and national removals to and from Liverpool, particularly with Liverpool having such a large student population.  In fact the only problem Liverpool has ever presented us with is keeping up the level of demand!

Our Liverpool Man and Van service covers the whole of liverpool as well as Wirral, Crosby, Southport, Formby, Birkdale, Ainsdale and all surrounding areas.  We can offer a 1, 2 or 3 man service and moved everything from the contents of a 5 bedroom house to the contents of a 1 bedroom flat.  We also help many local businesses in and around Liverpool with their logistical requirements.

Manchester has always been a very busy city for us, we cover the whole of Greater Manchester as well as Stockport, Bolton, Oldham, Sale , Altrincham and all surrounding areas.

We also move many people between the two cities which, given the rivalry between the two, may come as a surpise.  It seems more and more people are opting for a smaller, budget house removal company thse days instead of paying big bucks for a national company or taking a chance on a local man with a van who may or may not turn up - and with prices and a service like ours, who can blame them?

Friday 11th February 2011

Another busy month with bookings in for local removals and national removals.  Welcome to our latest member of staff, Marc.  We decided to let Marc help with an easy job first so we sent him on a piano delivery!  Luckily he still turned up for work the next day.

We get plenty of use from the tail-lifts on our vans as you can see.  They really are vital these days with more and more people needing to move lage items such as American fridge freezers and large range cookers.

A tail-lift ensures any large and heavy item can be loaded and un-loaded safetly and without the risk of it being damaged.

We still have space available on vans returning to Cheshire from destinations such as Lincoln, Middlesbrough and Peterbrough, full details can be found on our Special Offers page here.

Friday 28th January 2011 - There are vans and then there are vans!

Typical Specification

Whilst there are many pictures on our website of our vans we are often asked

for the  internal dimensions of a van.  Our van of choice is the Ford Transit Luton

with a tail lift.  These vans are the king of small house removals with a carrying

Load Space
Length 4 Metres

Width 2metres

Height 2.2 metres

Pay-load 1600 - 1800 kg
Fuel consumption 20 - 30 mpg
Seats 3 inc. driver

capacity of approximately 20 cubic metres which is enough for an avarage 2

bedroomed flat or house.  Unlike panel vans, a Luton van has the entire load

compartment above the rear wheels so there are no wheel-arches to interfere

with load space.

We get many phone calls from people who have booked a cheap " man and van " only to find on the day of the move that the picure of the shiny van on the website had been  " borrowed " and that the actual van being used is an old normal sized panel van totally unsuitable for the job.

The photgraphs on our site are all of our vans and all taken ( badly ) by us.  We use panel vans for the use they were intended for, collecting and delivering small to medium sized items and we use large Luton vans for house removals.  Our vans come fully equipped with transit blankets, securing straps, mattress protectors and trolleys to make sure everything is loaded safetly and without damage and that it arrives at it's destination in the condition that it left. Our vans also come with 1, 2 or 3 members of staff who are " working " staff. In other words they load and un-load your items on and off the van.  Even with our one man and van option the driver will load and un-load the van although he will, of course, require assistance with heavier items.

Zebra House Removals and Man and Van Services

The price for this great service utilising one of our huge Luton vans? - from £35 per hour! with a minimum of 2 hours.  That's right, a small removal, taking two hours and using one of our staff and one of our fully equipped Luton vans only costs £70!

We also get many, many phone calls from distraught people who have been let down at the last minute by their " bargain man and van "and need a house removal that day.  We always try to accommodate people but it is often impossible as we tend to be booked up well in advance.  We have never cancelled a house removal or simply not turned up! to us, that would be unthinkable. We are a professional company offering a superb, fully insured, small house removal service carried out by professional, uniformed staff and at prices that are better than the average guy up the road with an old van charges!

Which really only leaves one question - why would you book with anyone else?

Friday 31st December 2010 - Happy New Year from everyone at Zebra Removals.

We'd like to wish all our customers past and present a very happy new year and say a big thank you for making 2010 such a great year.

December 2010 was one of our busiest ever months following the introduction of our reduced hourly charges so we've decided to extend the offer into 2011.

The period between Christmas and New Year 2010 was particularly busy, especially with small Transit van sized removals to and from London and the home counties.  We seem to have moved almost the entire student population back to their homes and then back to their colleges and universities.

During January 2011 we are offering our man and van services at discounted rates. These prices include a 3.5 tonne Luton van with tail lift and a include FREE use of transit blankets FREE use of mattress covers and FREE use of carrying trolleys.
This is 25% cheaper than our normal great value rates, and we think this is the cheapest rate for this size van available anywhere, so, if you need the services of a man and van or removal company and you want a great deal, you know who to call – 01925 497477

Dont forget, if you'd prefer a fixed price quote for your removal, we'll be happy to oblige. We can come and visit you and provide you with a fixed price, fully inclusive quote that we're confident will not be beaten for value or quality of service.

Saturday 4th December

It occured to us at Zebra Removals that perhaps people might be interested to see what goes on in a day for one of our removal teams.

In the run up to Christmas 2010 we are as busy as ever, in fact we are currently running at full capacity with everyone working weekends to keep up.

This is one day's work for a two man removal team.  Starting in Newton-le-Willows at 8am we had a two bedroomed house removal going to Warrington.  Generally loading time is round about 1 to 1 and a half hours as everything has to be placed on the van safetly and securely.  As you will see from the pictures we are being hampered at the moment by snow but we still get the job done.

The house contents are delivered to the new address and un-loaded into the correct rooms.  The whole process from start to finish takes approx 4 hours including travelling time.

Next job is a kitchen collection in Warrington.    This is a used fitted kitchen that has been bought by our customer who is in Runcorn.  We have been booked to transport it via a recommendation.  We transport a lot of similar kitchens, we use large vans ideal for this sort of work and carry the neccessary equipment to ensure nothing is damaged in transport.  This job takes approx 1 and a half hours.  We've booked this job in today due to it's proximity to the last one, it's about 1 mile from the house move we've just done.

After the kitchen has been delivered in Runcorn we have a flat move from a 1st floor flat to a second floor flat, no lifts and definately not for the un-fit.  Everything is loaded and un-loaded efficiently and for the third time today we have some very happy customers who can not praise us enough. Total time for this job, about 4 hours.  Again, this job is a recommendation and has been booked in today as the customers were flexible with timings and it was about 2 miles from the kitchen delivery.

This is a very short summary of, what is, a very long and tiring day from a two man removal team.  That's two removals and one kitchen collection and delivery, in one day, including one first floor flat and one second floor flat.  Our guys do this every single day in rain, shine and mostly snow at the moment.  An eight hour day means nothing to us.   All the planning and timings for the jobs are done at our office and is itself a difficult task, but one which allows our operation to run like clockwork.

We think, not only are we the best man and van house removal service in Cheshire, but we are also the hardest working.

Tuesday 30th November

Following on from yesterday, we turned up for a house removal today and it was another footballer! We must be doing something right.

We also manged to fit in a move of costumes and equipment from one theatre to another in central Manchester for the Opera Houses' production of Cinderella.  Made a nice change from the usual house removals we carry out.

At no point did anyone on the van say " where's The Zebra, he's behind you " or " everything's on the van, oh no it isn't "

Monday 29th November

We’ve just carried out a removal for a well known Premership Football player, not the first either, we seem to attract footballers and some celebrities come to that. I expect it’s our Zebra like star quality that attracts them.

Anyway, I know precisely zero about football and I wouldn’t know a famous footballer if he came up to the back of the van and asked me for his ball back.

Latest gaffe by me talking to footballer’s agent as said footballer looked on from his mansion sized garage :-

Me ” Hey do I know him ? “

Agent ” I don’t know, do you? do you like football? “

Me ( trying to pretend I do like football ) ” Oh yeah he plays for Liverpool “

Agent ” No, he plays for Everton “

 Saturday 27th November

It's been a great month so far following the introduction of our new discounted man and van service, we've actually broken our own record for the number of house removals undertaken in one week! Traditionally, our busiest time of year is the summer but we have broken our own record in November!

Zebra National Removals

This month we've moved customers up to Cumbria and all the way down to Kent and Sussex.  We've undertaken house removals, student removals, flat removals, office removals and retirement home removals.

We have some great deals on return trips from various parts of the country where we have a van returning empty and the space can be booked at an even greater discounted rate.  This is perfect for single items such as eBay purchases where quite often the cost of transporting an item can be greater than the value of the item itself. Our latest offers are listed on our special offers page.

We've had great feedback from all our customers this month with nothing but praise for all concerned, one customer even commented " I don't know why anybody bothers to use anyone else when you guys are about " Praise indeed!

Anyway, that's enough trumpet blowing, after such a hard week we decided to go and have a relaxing break at the seaside, although Cleveleys in November was bracing, to say the least!

Friday 12th November

November has been another very busy month so far for Zebra Removals.  We've introduced our new man and van service with discounted rates until the end of 2010.  This means that we can now provide a man with a fully equipped 3.5 tonne Luton van for as little as £25 per hour! This must be the cheapest rate for this size van anywhere.

Our man and van service is ideal for smaller house removals or removals where the customer is willing to help load the van to keep costs down. It's also perfect in situations where some items have been moved and just the larger items need to be moved seperately.

We've discounted our rates to fill up the last few remaining dates before the New Year.  We do, of course, still provide the same high level of service and also provide free use of transit blanket, securing straps, trolleys and dolleys.

We've also been extremely busy providing national removals and sem to have covered the length and breadth of the country already this month.  Our most popular destination is Cheshire to London with the return trip always being booked very quickly.  It seems our London ciutomers prefer our rates to the rates of London companies.

Other popular destinations are Kent, Essex, Surrey, Cumbria, Cardiff, Swansea, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bedfordshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Devon.  We use different size vans for these removals depending on the amount to be transported.

Monday 25th October 2010

October has been another fantastic month for Zebra Removals. Despite the change in the weather, moving house is still as popular as ever! We've moved customers the length and breadth of the country including moves from Cheshire to Scotland and Wales.

Our removal service from Cheshire to London is incredibly popular as is our return service from London to Cheshire. Our customers can't believe the difference in price between using a company based in Cheshire and one based in London. We've also covered many major cities including Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Birmingham, Nottingham, Oxford, Leeds, Cardiff, Swansea, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Bristol.

As well as this we are still keeping our home town of Warrington in Cheshire on the move, providing local house removals at a budget price but without a budget level of service.

We we're asked, this month, to help a client with a problem house in North Wales.  Our client was from Warrington and had rented out the house to a tenant who had since left the property.  The property had been left in a poor state and required emptying of rubbish and some maintanance and decorating work.  The problem with the house was compounded by the fact that access was via very narrow lanes that our normal 3.5 tonne vans would stuggle to fit down.  We despatched some of our team in a smaller transit van and had the house and garden cleared and the re-decorating and maintanance done in a couple of days.  The house is now back on the rental market and is in the process of being re-let.

Needless to say, our client was delighted with the service and has commissioned us to work on further properties from their portfolio across the country.

Our collection and delivery service from Ikea in Warrington has also proved to be a great success, we've even nicknamed it "The Billy Bookcase Express"  No more waiting up to two weeks for store delivery, just give us a call and we'll come and collect your Ikea purchase and deliver it to your home, just like a taxi, but for bookcases!  Our drivers will, of course, help load your purchases into our van and un-load them into your home.  If you want to make it really simple, we'll even collect you from your house first, take you to Ikea and then take your and your new furniture home again, advice on colour schemes comes free!

With the run up to Christmas we have introduced a discount of 25% on our already great value prices to complete our order book up to the New Year.  We are only offering a limited number of these discounted places so if you want to book yours make sure you book early. Call us on 01925 497477 or email us with your requirements and we'll get straight back to you with a quote.

Monday 20th September 2010

IKEA Collection and Delivery
Zebra Removals offer you a cheaper and faster alternative to large store's, such as Ikea, own delivery service.
We can offer a same day collection and delivery service from IKEA Warrington at a time convenient for you and we even have room for two passengers if required.
.This will be a huge saving over IKEA's own service and for those urgent deliveries, there is just no comparison.
We use large 3.5 tonne Luton vans to ensure even the biggest items will fit in and our vans are equipped with securing straps and transit blankets to make sure your packages arrive in great shape.
Why wait for Ikea to deliver or make more than one trip in your car? Just give Zebra Removals a call and we'll be happy to help and with deliveries starting from £25 you'ld be mad not to call.

Tuesday 7th September 2010

We have been incredibly busy over the past week as people try to get their house moves sorted before we all settle back into our normal routines as the children return to school.  We have noticed a huge increase this year in the amount of student moves we have carried out, un-doubtably some of this is due to the increase in young adults entering further education, but, after talking to our customers, it is apparent that students now realise in can cost just as much to "do it themselves" as it costs to employ the services of a professional company such as ourselves.  Here are some ways the costs of a student move can be minimised.

1. The easiest way to reduce the cost of a move, particularly a long distance one is to share.  This is a practice we actively encourage people to undertake.  Typically students don't have as much "stuff" as a family so their move may only require half a van.  Unfortunately, we can't provide half a van and if you try and use a small van, you run the risk of either not fitting everything in or items being squashed and damaged. The answer is to try and find at least one other person to share with, if you know someone who is going to the same University, the chances are they are having the same problem as you in locating an affordable removal option.

Remember, we can accommodate up to 2 passengers in our vans, which means no travelling expenses and no having to drive all the way back to your home town to return a hire van.

We offer the same level of service to all our customers, we will always try and help reduce cost wherever possible but we would never expect you to compromise on service.  For more information please go to our Student Moves page or e.mail for a quote.

Saturday 28th August 2010

After a record breaking week last week for Zebra Removals we managed to set a new record this week!  We've carried out more removals this week than ever before and along the way met up with many repeat customers and are already taking bookings from recommendations of these customers.

We've also manged to fit in a few house clearances as well as our usual trade deliveries including an enormours set of ladders going to Warrington and a 12 foot long table bought on eBay from a seller in Wilmslow.

Next week is already fully booked although we have some space available on a van travelling from Oxfordshire to Cheshire on Tuesday, if anyone wants a really good deal on transport.

Thursday 18th August 2010 Busy, busy !

This week is possibly the busiest week we have ever had. During the economic downturn it seems more and more people are turning to small removal companies when they move house, instead of hiring a large firm. As we use smaller vehicles our costs are considerably lower and we also actively market our return trips when we carry out a long distance removal so the customer only ever pays for a one way trip.

If you want to keep your moving costs to a minimum and save time here are some more moving tips :-

Create a portable kit consisiting of marker pens, plasters, tea kit, phone numbers, tools, labels, keys, toileteries, a good take away telephone number and other essentials not to be packed - don't forget to mark the kit 'not to be packed!'

Always pack boxes level, and seal them so that they can be stacked, and mark which room they are to go in.

Stack plates on their sides, not flat, and try to layer china with the odd tea towel or other padding.

Keep boxes to a sensible weight.

Try not to leave hollow spaces in boxes - use pillows or cushions where necessary.

Loose clothes, jackets and bedding etc. can go into binliners.

Garden tools and other loose items can be taped together into bundles.

Some items can stay in chests of drawers and bedside cabinets provided they are not fragile.

Don't water plants before the removal - should they tip over they will make a mess.

Don't pack any flammables.

Saturday 14th August 2010. Don't look down!

We have carried out many office re-locations but this was deifinately the most exciting to date.  We were asked to work on an office re-location from the BT Tower which involved moving the contents of several offices to a storage unit in Kent.  Most of the equipment we were moving was old video and audio recording devices from the eighties which for the more "geeky" amongst us was absolutely fascinating. Loading the vans was actaully fairly easy as we had use of large trolleys and even larger lifts and the loading bay at BT Tower is enormous.

What wasn't quite so easy was the convoy across central London to get to the storage facility in Beckenham.  We all managed to make it eventually and got everything safetly into storage.

We had an overnight stop in London and, just to make sure we got back to Warrington completely exhausted, we had a house removal booked in from Kent to Knutsford in Cheshire. We don't like an empty van at Zebra Removals and Mr and Mrs Whittle from Kent were delighted we could offer them a discount on their removal, taking advantage of our backload price.

We carry our many office removals, we even carried out the office removal for one of our on-line advertising directories.  Why not contact us to see how we can help you.

Wednesday 11th August 2010 Double Glazing

It's another busy day today.  We've gotr to get to Rotherham near sheffield to pick up double glazed patio doors from a company called Demtrav2000ltd. Demtrav are one of a growing number of business customers that usey eBay as a selling platform.  In order to grow the business Demtrav asked Zebra if we could provide the transport for their products.  We assured them that we could provide a level of service that would impress their customers and the fact that they could now offer UK delivery would send their sales into overdrive. Once a double glazed unit is ordered, we liase with Demtrav to ensure it's collected and delivered within the customer's expected timeframe, ensuring that the customer buying experience isn't tarnished by a poor delivery service.

Ebay selling for businesses has grown exponentially over the last couple of years and Zebra Removals has helped many small businesses grow by offering a cost effective delivery option.

If you have an ebay business and feel our courier service could be of use to you in growing your business, please contact us.

Ebay selling can be difficult, but to help out here are ten useful tips:-

1. Groundwork - Before you even start, you need to research your market. If you have a product in mind, do you have a lot of competition, can you make a profit by selling on eBay?

2. Committment - Although selling on ebay may sound easy, if you want to set-up a real business selling, you will need a lot of committment, just as you would in any other business area.

3. Presentation - Marketing your products is as important as any other tip on this page. Your listings pages are like parts of a shop window. Take time creating clear and uncluttered listings templates, make your listings as professional looking as possible and you could gain competitive edge over other sellers in your field.

4. Growing your eBay business - Organic growth is best. Rather than spending a fortune on products and storage, why not test the water. See how the selling process works in practice, which items are the most popular and then grow the business at a reasonable pace.

5. Reputation - ebay has a feedback system which rates sellers according to the amount of positive feedback they receive. People are unlikely to buy of sellers with a low percentage of good feedback. Over time, the number of feedback points your get will increase.

6. Communication - Despite being Internet based, you will regularly interact with buyers via email. Asking questions, confirming postage costs, etc. Make sure you answer all your buyers' questions in a timely and professional manner - you may well be selling to them again if you get it right the first time.

7. Packaging - When sending goods out to customers, ensure they are well packaged. Receiving a securely wrapped parcel will impress customers and ensure you receive glowing feedback points. For higher value items, we recommend you use recorded or registered post. It is also worth sending a copy of the bid receipt with the package.

8. Payment - Paypal is the recommended method of payment on ebay - transactions are instant and linked to the buyer/seller's bank accounts securely. Disputed transactions are easy to clear up. However, to reach as wider audience as possible, you'd be wise to accept all types of payment. If you do opt to accept personal cheques, make sure the payment has cleared before sending out the item

9. Keywords & Description - Take time to input accurate keywords relating to your product and make your title line as succinct as possible. Buyers will often make a decision at the search stage, i.e. if the title is clear and not full of sales nonsense, they are more likely to click on the link.

10. Tax Liabilities - You do need to keep a record of your costs and profits for tax purposes. The Inland Revenue is more than aware of the money made on ebay UK and you must declare your profits (minus costs) on your tax return each year as any small business would do.

We started the day with a fantastic drive past the Cat and Fiddle in the Peak District and at the end of the day all we had left was a fantastic drive back from Yorkshire to Lancashire via the A65 past more stunning scenery.

Of course, we had to stop on the way to make one last delivery in Lancaster. We had collected a sofa for a customer earlier in the month and arranged to drop it off on the way back. The customer in question had been recommended by a previous customer which is how much of our work is gained. Heather was delighted with our sofa and even agreed to pose with The Zebra.

Tuesday  10th August 2010. 5am!

House removal from swindon

Lots on today, the secret of getting a lot done in one day is easy - start really really early.  We leave Stockton Heath at 5am and it's down the M6 and M5 to Swindon. We time our days by whats on the radio 2, we know it's a busy day if Sarah Kennedy hasn't started dawn Patrol yet!

No hold ups at Birmingham so we in Swindon for 8.30. We've got a delivery of sofas and a delivery of industrial resin, at least it's different! Once we've made the last delivery we're into the middle of Swindon for a house removal. Our customers are re-locating to Ormskirk in Lancashire and have chosen Zebra Removals for the job.

We've got the van loaded in approx 1 and a half hours and we're on the road again. Customers seem thFactoru deliverye appreciate the fact that we turn up on time and actually carry out the job properly, something which seems to be difficultfor some other businesses.

We're up in Ormskirk for 3pm and we've got the van un-loaded and all the furniture in place by 4.pm.  Our customers are delighted and I'm sure we'll be seing them again.

Saturday 7th August 2010. Ok so you want to save some money....

Yesterday and today we undertook two house removals both from Cheshire and both to the South Coast. I was talking to one of the customers and he told me that he had contemplated hiring a van and doing the move himself.  It wasn't until he sat down with a calculator and worked out exactly what it was going to cost, with van rental, fuel, securing straps for the van, transit blankets, more fuel to return the van etc plus he was going to have to rope some friends in and actually do all the work, that he realised it was actually more cost effective to use us.

When you are looking for a removal company, you want to choose the right removal company for you. This means a company that is reliable and who will be able to give you a quote on any type of moving that you plan to do. You need to take a look around at the companies that are out there when it comes to moving so that you can find one that will give you a good quote as well as accommodate your moving needs. You may be looking for full service or just some to help you move your items that are already packed. There is a difference in price as well as service when you are looking for house removals.

If you are looking to save money when it comes to movers, you can do so by packing as many items as you can and then moving what you can on your own, leaving the bigger items that are heavy to move to the company. If you have everything packed for the UK movers when they arrive, they will charge less than if they have to pack everything for you. The more work you do on your own, the less you pay when it comes to a removal company.

Many people who try to move on their own by renting vans and using friends for the move end up breaking a lot of items and even leaving some items behind.

Friends get tired after a while and no one wants to help someone else have to make a move. You are better off to hire a professional removal company than owing friends for this service as you will be taking a burden off of them as well. Best of all, when you use movers, you know that the items are being moved in the right way and are secure in the boxes in the van.

If you have special items that need special care, you need to tell the removal company about them. They will be able to give you a quote on your moving as well as schedule you for a date to move. It is best to hire movers as soon as you know when you plan to move so that you can get everything scheduled.

Thursday 5th August 2010. TrainspottingDelivery to Porthmadog and Portmeirion

For a change, this morning we're out in the country,  West Wales to be exact in Ffestiniog home of the famous Ffestiniog Railway, the oldest independant railway company in the country.

We're here to deliver a kitchen in Porthmadog that we collected in Warrington yesterday, but we still have time for some sight seeing. It makes a nice

change from constant motorway driving.

While we were here we dropped in at Portmeirion as we had a a collectionHouse Removal Wirral to Wigan

scheduled from here.

The afternoon and it's another house removal and another happy customer.  We moved our customers from Ellsmere Port on the Wirral to Billinge in Wigan.  They were quite surprised when they asked us how the traffic was on the Motorway and we replied "we dont know, we've just come over from Portmeirion!"

Tuesday 3rd August 2010. Kitchens

More and more people seem to be buying used kitchens, normally from eBay and we seem to deliver all of them! Buying a used kitchen can be a great way of saving money and we are can provide the perfect transportation solution.  We use large vans meaning your units won't be squashed together causing damage and any heavy appliances can be safetly loaded using a tail lift.  We provide all the transit blankets and securing straps to ensure everything arrives at it's destination in the same condition it was when it left.Storing a Kitchen

We are happy to liase with the sellers to organise collection and generally provide two men to load and un-load the kitchen.  We seem to be the company of choice for fitted kitchen delivery, we delivered two today!

To try and make your kitchen purchase that much easier, we've compiled the following short guide:-

Layout: first determine the basic layout of the kitchen, make a scale drawing, and calculate the exact size and number of the base units and wall units required. With an itemised list you can then shop around to find the best deal (whether it be new or used). eBay can be a great place to find used kitchens, as it has a very good photograph facility, and you can contact the buyer to ask questions about various sizes, general condition, exact quanities, or ideally arrange a viewing.

Local Kitchen Delivery

Buying a used kitchen: as a general rule its a good idea to buy a kitchen which has more units than is required because if you find a door is scratched, damaged, or hinged the wrong way, odds are it will not be possible to purchase a new door that will match. Work surfaces are easy to replace, but doors and side panels are not! You might consider simple styled kitchen units in a natural wood (i.e. shaker styles) as these may not date as quickly as some other styles, and they wear better than those with heavy lacquered finishes.

If you are considering buying a used kitchen, let us know, and we'll send you a transport quote.

Monday 2nd August 2010. Moving cats and dogs.

Two local Warrington removals today and both involved moving cats.  This can prove stressfull for the both the owner and the pet so, being an animal lover! I thought I'd publish some tips on moving house with a pet:-

Avoid stress by familiarizing the pet with the carrier several weeks before the scheduled move. Leave the carrier open and always accessible to the cat or dog. Place a pet bed or blankets inside and hide treats and toys inside the carrier. And feed all meals inside the carrier, with the door left open. Associating the pet carrier with positive things will cause the pet to view the carrier as a nice place to be.

Chester House Removal

Dogs and cats must remain in their carrier during the move-in process in order to avoid a situation where a dog or cat is lost because he or she slips out the door during the move.

If the move-in process is expected to take more than a day, it's a wise idea to arrange for the pets to stay with a family member or friend. Putting your pet in kennels while moving in to a new home is also an option.

Once in the new home, the dog or cat carrier will be an essential adjustment tool. The carrier will serve as a familiar "home base" or "safe zone" that will help the pet cope with their arrival in a new home, with its unfamiliar sights, sounds and smells.

Once the move-in is complete, the carrier can be placed in a quiet room. Open the door to the carrier and allow the pet to explore the room at his or her own pace. Feedings should be given in the safe room until the dog or cat has adjusted to the move.

Once the pet is comfortable in the safe room, begin leaving the door open and the pet will gradually start to explore the rest of the home. For dogs, this process tends to take a matter of hours, whereas it will take a few days for most cats to start feeling comfortable in the new home.Warrington Man and Van

Dogs and cats find routine comforting and reassuring. So it's best to establish a strict pet care schedule right away when moving into a new house.

Developing a strict pet care schedule for meals, walks, bathroom breaks and other activities will help dogs and cats to adjust to life in the new home. This will also lessen the chances of the pet developing a behavioral problem.

Moving to a new home can be stressful for cats, dogs and humans. The key is to plan ahead and allow the cat or dog to adjust at his or her own rate and be patient. Patience is key and before too long, the new house will feel like home in no time for both human and pets.

Saturday 31st July 2010. Clearing up.

Local House Clearance

House clearance time today. We were instructed by solicitors to perform a house clearance on a very cluttered bungalow in Wigan.  We were asked to remove everything from the property including the carpets and an old shed to the rear of the house.

The clearance took approximately 5 hours and the property was left completely empty and ready for estate agent viewings. Click here for more details of our house clearance service which we carry out throughout the Tom at 101North West.

Saturday night and we've escaped! After a hard week's work it was off to Tom at 101 in Stockton Heath, Warrington for a well earned night out.

As ever Tom, was pleased to see us and came over to say hello.

Friday 30th July 2010  At least there was a lift!

Back to the business of house removals today.  Our customer was recommended to Zebra Removals by her father who used our services 12 months ago.Newton Le Willows House Removal

As usual, everything was loaded onto the van safetly and delivered to the new address in Preston, a second floor apartment overlooking the marina, luckily there was a lift!

Before starting the return leg back to Stockton Heath, we stopped of at in LongridPreston House Removalge, Preston to collect sofas that we have booked in for delivery to Surrey in a couple of weeks.

Thursday 29th July2010 The thing is, I've bought a hovercraft.....Kitchen Collection and Delivery

We get asked to collect and deliver all sorts of things, all over the country. It used to be that we would undertake a house removal and then, to cover the fuel cost of the return journey, collect and deliver a sofa or wardrobe on the way back. With the explosion of eBay buying and selling, those days are long gone. We now operate a full time courier service for ebay items, alongside our removal service.

Today, for example, we collected a kitchen in Chester, bought on eBay, by a couple inCarmarthen, South Wales.  Kitchen deliveries really do need to be handled professionally, it just isn't good enough to turn up in a battered old van and try and squeeze in someone's kitchen units, worktops, appliance etc and hope they won't get damaged, they will!

Any decent delivery service will proivide the correct size vehicle, preferably with a tail lift, this way the units can be loaded and secured correctly to avoid any scratchesor dents.  It also requires two men, an obvious fact but one that is overlooked when booking a "man and van"

We had the kitchen loaded in about 45 minutes and transported it to a storage unit in Carmarthen, approx 4 hours away.Shared Load

The return leg was more involved, we had a customer who had been recommended by a previous customer, who had purchased two sofas in South Wales and a customer who had purchased a wardrobe in Shropshire, both these purchases were to be delivered to Surrey in a couple of weeks time so we had agreed to store them in our storage unit in Warrington.  This helps keep the delivery costs down and means the customer maintains the "bargain" element of their internet purchase.

We also had acustomer who had purchased a hovercraft in Shropshire and needed it transporting to Runcorn.  Even for us, a hovercraft is an unusual item but as ever, the collection and delivery ended with a very happy customer.

If you've bought something on eBay and need it collecting and delivering professionally, why not give us a ring or email us, we can always offer a great price and you can rest assured your purchase is in safe hands.

Tomorrow it's back to house removals and we're off to sunny Yorkshire!
